Organizational Information

Return here often to find updated new, business, and financial information about the MORE Project. We will be publishing our 2008 annual report within weeks. Please read below to see the MORE Project executive director’s introduction to that report.

Dear Friends,
I am truly inspired by the goodness of the MonaVie community that has now become the MORE community. I love my role because I get to interact with many of the MORE community—donors, staff, volunteers, and MonaVie executives—and that means I get to spend my time with amazingly giving, generous, and visionary people. As a community, we have joined together with the common goal of making a difference in the lives of individuals living in the favelas—or slums—of Brazil, acutely aware of the daunting—but doable—challenge it presents. Thus far, we have seen extraordinary things happen in many people’s lives. I am convinced that as each of us comes forward to help one child, one family, one adult, we will slowly but steadily break the cycle of poverty that has held countless thousands in its grasp for generations.
Since late 2007, The MORE Project has undergone some major changes worth noting. With deep appreciation and fondness, we said goodbye to the founding executive director, Charlie Brink. Charlie is an inspiring leader who helped carry the vision of the MORE Project from a seedling operation to a flourishing nonprofit organization. Among his gifts are his ability to foster strong, trusting relationships, beginning with Sergio Ponce, our Brazilian MORE Project President, which continues to grow today.
With the generous donations of MonaVie distributors, executives and private donors, our vision of how we would benefit the people in Brazil is rapidly becoming a reality. We jumped from receiving thousands of dollars in gifts during 2006, to a little over $2 million in 2008. This kind of growth has just increased the speed at which we are able to reach individuals in Brazil. To illustrate this, we went from helping 43 people in 2006 to supporting 510 in 2007; and in early 2008 (when we gathered our most recent statistics) 1,275 people were being supported through the MORE Project. As of September 08, 150 children are regularly attending school at the MORE Project each day; 75 children and 15 young adult men are being protected in shelter homes; 170 children are enrolled in our soccer training school; and 1,000 teenagers and adults are taking educational courses on a weekly basis. The growth and progress is staggering and exciting!
We are also proud of the work being done at the home office of The MORE Project. We are working aggressively to put in place the infrastructure that will sustain the growth of MORE over time. We have recently begun implementing a financial tracking system and donor database to ensure efficiency and accountability in the donation process. We are also instituting a MORE Project Board of Directors, who will meet regularly to discuss and strategize the MORE Project as it grows. We will soon be launching a new, more interactive Web site to encourage a stronger community and communication. These enhancement are aimed to enable us to operate a smoother, more efficient organization so that and more people in the field can receive MORE.
Working together, we are making a difference. On a recent trip to Brazil, I spent a lot of time looking into the eyes of those we are helping. Tears of thanksgiving and joy were freely shed, erasing the language barrier as our hearts spoke to one another. “Obrigada” and “thank you” are the words the mothers, grandmothers, teenagers and little ones express as their lives are changed. And so, I say the same to you. Obrigada! From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your ongoing support. We have made a difference today and I am excited for the generations we will impact in 2009.
We appreciate so deeply all our donors have done over the past year. As you read this annual report, you will see the fruits of our labors.

“I respect generosity in people, and I respect it in companies too, I don’t look at it as philanthropy; I see it as an investment in the community.”

— Actor, Paul Newman
