Donate Your Time/Expeditions

Imagine how you could change lives, including your own.

Virtually every person who completes a volunteer expedition returns with a life changing story to tell; more important than having such a meaningful experience in your own life, your volunteer expedition will have an immeasurable impact on the lives of those we serve in Brazil.

Applying to participate in an Expedition is a two step process. Your application will only be processed when both steps are completed:

2. Submit Deposit of $250 or Make Expedition Payment

Expeditions are $2,000 per person not including airfare. Children ages 12 and up are welcome when accompanied by a parent. When filling out your application please specify which date you would like to participate in an expedition with us. Thank you so much for your interest in service. 2012 Expedition Dates

March 15 – 25 — Construction Trip — Make Payment

Ages: 12 and up

This expedition is a first of its kind. We will be taking construction professionals as well as general expeditioners to Brazil to work together on very specific building projects. You don’t have to have construction expertise to join us, we will have plenty of work to go around, whether you have building skills or not. You will have an opportunity to meet the families that live in the favela that borders Village Monavie, as well as the little ones who go to pre-school in the Creche located on the same property where we will be staying. We are looking forward to a richly rewarding experience as we work together in Brazil to benefit these families.

July 21 – 31 — Youth Expedition — Make Payment

General Youth: Ages 14 – 18

Youth Leaders: Ages 18 – 25

This expedition proves to be a powerful, life changing experience for all the youth who chose to participate. All of the children in Brazil are out of school for all of July, so during this expedition we create a very special day camp for them to participate in. We provide art classes, storytelling, games, nutritious hot meals, and most importantly love for these children. The children look forward to every moment they spend at Village MonaVie and in the end they feel so supported and loved in a way they rarely get to experience in the favela. Being the provider of this great service, our youth come away with a deep sense of gratification and purpose, as well as having learned very important team building skills.

October 7 – 14 — General Expedition — Make Payment

Ages: 12 and up

This trip will be a general expedition. The purpose behind this expedition is to familiarize the participant with a typical day in the life of someone living in a favela in Brazil. We will visit all of our programs and you will get to meet all of the children who go to school there. You will eat lunch with them, read to them, share special moments as you learn what their lives are like. We will also be working on a service project as a group. One day will be spent in Rio de Janeiro seeing the sites and visiting a few of the beaches. Your life will be forever changed as you grow to know and understand the daily challenges that exist for the people we serve, and as you hear their stories of change that has come about through their involvement with The MORE Project.
